At Precision Hearing, we’re excited to share a groundbreaking collaboration that’s redefining hearing health and style. GN, a leader in hearing technology, joined forces with Danish fashion brand HAN Kjøbenhavn to challenge stigma around hearing loss and elevate hearing aids as stylish expressions of identity — all on the glamorous stage of Copenhagen Fashion Week AW25.
Breaking Barriers with the ‘New Norm’ Campaign
Building on GN’s influential ‘New Norm’ campaign, which challenges outdated views of hearing aids as bulky and medical, this partnership showcases hearing aids as sleek, modern accessories — and a powerful form of self-expression.
“At GN, we’re committed to reshaping perceptions of hearing aids,” says Marie Schleimann Nordlund, Director of Communication and Community at GN. "Fashion offers a unique platform to normalise hearing loss and empower people to wear their hearing aids with pride.”
Representation on the Runway
For the first time, two models with hearing loss walked the runway during HAN Kjøbenhavn’s AW25 show — a historic moment for inclusion in fashion. Their confident presence and visible hearing aids sent a clear message: hearing aids belong in the spotlight, just like any other accessory.
Jannik Wikkelsø, Founder and Creative Director of HAN Kjøbenhavn, explains:
“Inclusion is often talked about visually, but we wanted to highlight other important challenges people face, such as hearing loss. This project is beautiful, and we are proud to be part of it.”
An Immersive Experience: Hearing the Story
The show opened with a striking, high-pitched siren sound simulating tinnitus, inviting the audience to experience hearing challenges first-hand. This powerful storytelling added an emotional depth that went beyond visual aesthetics — prompting reflection and meaningful conversations about hearing health.
Marie Schleimann Nordlund reflects:
“Hearing aids today are so discreet that they can go unnoticed, so we wanted to create a moment where people really stopped and listened. The reaction was thought-provoking and sparked dialogue.”
Changing Perceptions, One Step at a Time
Model Gustav Calvin, who wears hearing aids following a diving accident, shared how this collaboration means more than just fashion:
“For years I avoided hearing aids because I feared what others might think — especially my peers. This project shows hearing aids can be worn with confidence. I hope it encourages others to take care of their hearing.”
